Never have to worry about saving, backing up or emailing an attachment again!

The Google Apps for Education suite is available to all students and teachers in NSW public schools. This suite includes a variety of tools that will benefit all students in and out of school:

Docs/Drive
With Google Docs/Drive, students can easily collaborate on documents, spreadsheets, and slide-show presentations. Your docs are stored securely in the cloud where anyone you share them with (but only those people) can work on them—either individually or all at the same time. Great for:
  • Group-work
  • Timely feedback and reflection
  • Formative assessment
  • Collaboration and peer assessment
  • The Google Drive app can be downloaded and installed for free to act as a local folder on your computer or mobile device.

Sites
This tool allows students and teachers to create websites using easy to use templates. Students can create a website as a response to a presentation assignment, or a class can work together to curate resources. Great for:
  • Class websites
  • Student learning journals/portfolios
  • Assignment tool to giving students an opportunity to demonstrate and then share their learning and expertise
(NB Students cannot create sites independently, teachers will need to initiate this process)

Classroom
Classroom is a simple and easy to use electronic portal for online classroom management.
Great for:
  • Creating and managing online assignments, complete with a turn it in facility
  • Communicating with class members
  • Hosting an online forum
  • Providing meaningful feedback to students
Picture
To access Google Apps/Drive/Docs students simply need to go to any Google page and sign in at the top right with there firstname.lastname*@education.nsw.gov.au credentials. This is the same account used to access the Internet, Student and Sentral Portals and emails.

Google Apps are browser based. This means the documents, presentations, files, images and contacts stored in a Google Account can be accessed from any device with an internet connection, including phones and tablets.

At Coffs Harbour Senior College teachers will be using Google Apps and Microsoft Office 365 in conjunction with Moodle where appropriate to deliver lessons and allow collaboration activities in a variety of subjects. But even if your teachers aren't using Google Apps in their teaching practice, you may still use it to manage your notes and learning. And best of all... it's free!
